Теория стоимости финансовых активов (при определении валютного курса)
Теоретическое объяснение неустойчивости валютного курса в условиях системы плавающих курсов валют. В то время как в теории паритета покупательной способности (см. Purchasing-power parity theory) говорится, что спекулятивные биржевые операции не препятствует достижению равновесия платежного баланса, в теории стоимости активов подчеркивается, что это скорее всего не так. Валютный курс - это цена финансового актива, т.е. относительная цена, по которой денежные средства, акции, облигации и другие финансовые активы какой-либо страны охотно покупаются отечественными и иностранными вкладчиками. Реальное изменение валютного курса или ожидания возможного его изменения могут привести к тому, что держатели ценных бумаг будут вынуждены пересмотреть портфель своих активов. В результате изменение спроса на активы в иностранной валюте относительно спроса на активы в отечественной валюте может стать причиной резких колебаний валютных курсов. В частности, неуверенность в том, какими будут рыночные процентные ставки, и нежелание банков и других участников валютных рынков открывать крупные позиции в отдельных валютах, особенно в «мягких», могут вызвать сокращение фондов, необходимых для стабилизации спекулятивных операций, что в свою очередь смягчит беспорядочные колебания валютных курсов или даже позволит их избежать. Если все же это так, тогда «переключение» с одного финансового актива на другой, по всей видимости, усилит рыночные колебания, возникщие в результате расчетов по текущим операциям и, следовательно, приведет к формированию таких валютных курсов, которые будут препятствовать установлению в длительной перспективе эффективного равновесия платежного баланса.Новый англо-русский словарь-справочник.
